Los Frutos del cafe was founded in 1998 but officially incorporated in 2001.
Our charitable projects take place primarily in the North West of Nicaragua, in the mountain region of Tepesomoto-Pataste, Las Sabanas, Nicaragua.
This Municipality has an area of 69 Km2. Located at 262 Km from Managua ( Capital of Nicaragua).
There are 15 rural communities in the municipality of Las Sabanas.
The village of Las Sabanas sits at 1260 metres above Sea Level, but the elevation throughout the municipality varies between 1000 metres and 1735 metres.
On October 31st, 1998, Hurricane Mitch devastated Nicaragua. The livelihoods of many families were destroyed as mudslides took entire farms and coffee plantations.
Helping the communities in need began with the immediate bandaids of food and clothing. The heart of our efforts was to help those families get on their feet again. That is where sustainable development came into place.
The basic idea behind the charity was that coffee, the sale of it, the production of it, would have as an additional purpose to bring a sustainable future to the producing communities.
The objective of Los Frutos del Cafe is to reach sustainable development through education, environment preservation, and poverty relief.
